The 4-day Choquequirao trek offers breathtaking views of the Andean mountains, deep river canyons and diverse ecosystems. Hikers also have the opportunity to learn about Inca culture and history and witness rural life in the Peruvian highlands.
Departure from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 am and drive through the Andes to Capuliyoc, arriving at approximately 8:30 am. After the first breakfast prepared by your chef, you will begin the EsPeru to one of the legendary lost cities of the Incas, the citadel of Choquequirao. The first part is a 4 hour descent from Capuliyoc (2950 m – 9678 ft) to our lunch spot at Chikiska (1950 m – 6398 ft). Along the way, you will get the first views of the Apurimac Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in Peru. This part of the trek offers spectacular panoramic views of different landscapes, from the mountains of Peru to the dense vegetation of the cloud forest. After lunch, we continue the trek for two more hours to Santa Rosa (2230 m – 7300ft), where we camp for the night.

After breakfast, get ready for one of the most challenging but rewarding days of this EsPeru! First, a 4-hour hike uphill to Marampata (2940 m – 9646 ft). On the way, you will visit sugar cane farms where the locals produce “Cañazo”, a local alcoholic drink made for centuries and delivered to cities like Cusco. Lunch at a local house with stunning views of the mountains and river. After lunch, we will ascend another 2 hours up and down to Choquequirao (3050 m – 10006 ft). A spectacular Inca site perched in the Peruvian Andes, Choquequirao was one of the last Inca cities built in the cloud forest and abandoned during the conquest of Peru. It may have been one of the entry checkpoints to Vilcabamba, the last Inca capital, in the 16th century. Today, our campsite offers spectacular views of the Apurimac Valley and the Peruvian Andes.

I had the pleasure of being guided by Rosel during my trip to Peru, and I must say, the experience was exceptional. Rosel’s depth of knowledge about the country’s history, culture, and landmarks was truly impressive. Not only was Rosel informative, but his sense of humor and easy-going nature made the tour thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend Rosel as a guide for anyone seeking an insightful, entertaining, and memorable journey through the Cusco region.
We had an amazing experience doing the Inca trail with Rossel. Everything was perfectly organized. He knows a lot about the Inca culture and shared all his knowledge with a lot of passion. He was also very attentive of all the group always willing to help.
We originally trekked to Machu Picchu 4d/3n with Rosel and had such an outstanding experience, we went back and booked a private tour to Humantay with him. He is not only an amazing guide, but a wonderful person! Blessed to call him a friend! His experience, knowledge and history
